Thanks for your interest in Hypersonic Tales. We are now accepting submissions for the January 2009 issue. Please paste submissions and queries onto the contact form below or into an email to submissions@hypersonictales.com. Here are the guidelines:

 

♦ Genres: science fiction, slipstream, fantasy and the macabre stories; we also accept cover art.

 

♦ Length: 450 to 1,000 words (If your submission is any longer or shorter, please query first so that we can reject it in a gentle manner). If it's a few words over and we like it, we'll work with you.

 

♦ Think PG-13 or nicer: Since Hypersonic Tales targets a general audience, sexually explicit content will not be suitable.

 

♦ Think original: It must be yours and must not be previously published material —  online or otherwise. (And we're not all that crazy about vampire tales, by the way. We got loads of them at once and it pretty much turned us off.)

 

♦ Think audio: As stories will be read in audio, please include the correct pronunciations of your name and any unusual words in the story (such as place names created specifically for the work, e.g. "Coruscant").

 

♦ Deadlines: Submissions received by the 15th of each month will be candidates for publication the following month. Overflow candidates will be first considered for the issue after that.

 

♦ Your info: For contract purposes, include your physical address (at least your town, state or province and country). Also, we gladly will publish a short (one or two paragraphs) bio as well as a link to the author's personal web page with the submission.

 

♦ Rights: We require one-time use rights for the story and First Electronic Rights for 12 months after initial publication and production — that's as long as the story will be available on our site — as well as Anthology rights. It is also understood that our publication has unlimited rights for our audio version of the story.

 

♦ Money: Accepted story submissions will be paid $5 (via PayPal only, outside of United States). We also pay $10 for cover art submissions and original comic strips. The same use rights apply.
